Our History

Bracebridge Family Eyecare has been proudly family-owned and operated for over 35 years, serving the Muskoka community with personalized, compassionate eye care. From children experiencing their first eye exam to adults managing vision changes over time, we treat every patient like a member of our extended family.

The practice has deep roots in the area—Dr. Cox purchased it from his great-uncle, Dr. Philip Thomas, who established the clinic in 1935. Today, that long-standing history is honoured in our antique eyeglass display in the foyer, a reminder of generations of trusted care.

Our three Optometrists bring over 60 years of combined experience, blending expertise, advanced technology, and a personal touch to provide the highest quality care in a welcoming, friendly environment. Dr. Nicole Hatfield joined the practice in 2019 and became co-owner with Dr. Cox in 2021, continuing the tradition of family-run, patient-focused care.
